Book review – The Princess and the Shoe

by Caryl Hart and Sarah Warburton.

Another in the author’s Princess series that gives a fresh and modern take to a traditional fairy tale. This story follows the tale of Princess Jasmine (no not that one) who is expected to behave like a princess, go to the ball and get kissed by a prince. Jasmine of course is having none of it and as a result the story plays out as an alternative Cinderella tale. It’s fun and with a moral teaching of individuality and empowerment, versus others expectations of what one can and can’t do. The detailed illustrations too are really first class and leap off the page. They are a comic entity in themselves. Especially recommended if you have a little princess of your own!
