Book review – Octopus Shocktopus

Octopus Shocktopus by Peter Bently and Steven Lenton

I love a children’s picture book that does something special with the production of the book itself and this one jumps right out at you due to the fluorescent inks used for the titular octopus. You really can’t miss it!

This is a perfectly bonkers story about how it would be if an octopus landed on your house. Well we all imagine that don’t we? And after some initial reservations by a few locals we soon get on with all the great things about having a bright pink (yes the fluorescent inks are still there) and very helpful octopus on your roof.

The illustrations are a winner too. A bright colours and loads of fun and character to gaze upon.

You can’t go wrong here and there is even a moral of ‘acceptance’ that pleasingly rounds it all off at the end. Wonderful!
