Book Review – Cornelia and the Jungle Machine

Cornelia and the Jungle Machine by Nora Brech.

This is the debut picture book by the Norwegian and very talented author/illustrator.

Cornelia is not settling into her new house as it’s rather old and gloomy, so her parents suggest she goes to explore outside.

Moving into a new house is a familiar theme for a children’s book and there is always some magical adventure to be had in next door’s garden. This story is no exception.

In fact, there is magic to be had before we even get to the jungle machine however as the illustrations are gorgeous. Full of wonderful detail and for the most part tell the story in themselves, as the text here is very minimal.

It’s a real feast for the eyes and the unusually tall format for the book gives an added dimension to the imagery.

Treat yourself with this one!
