Book Review – There’s a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom

There’s a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom by James Sellick and Frann Preston-Gannon.

This story has been given an extra lease of life as a children’s picture book, having first been created as a short animation for Greenpeace about the issue of palm oil production. It’s on YouTube if you want to see it.

The book is the same story about a an orangutan who’s rainforest habitat is being cleared to make way way for palm oil plantations and seeks refuge in a girls bedroom.

As a book in itself, the text rhymes nicely and the illustrations pack a punch, but it’s the message and real life inconvenient truth at it’s heart that is the saddest thing of all.

In a clever move the book educates and provides guidance on action that can be taken at an individual level.

Help support a great cause.
