A Bit Lost by Chris Haughton
This was the debut picture book by the author illustrator and has won multiple award across numerous countries.
What makes it so good? Well it’s simplicity really. It’s a tale of an owl who falls out of the tree and goes in search of his mummy and gets introduced to various potential mummies. It’s a sort of ‘you’re not my mummy’ type book, though this ground has been trodden on before (Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson for a start).
The illustrations are very designer like. Quite pared back and full of retro colour. There’s some nice character work too.
Overall a nice book but you may have read something similar before!
