There’s a Tiger in the Garden by Lizzy Stewart
This is a nice story that takes the shape of an imaginative journey though grandma’s garden, full of all sorts of wonderful things, but is there a tiger in there? A sceptical Nora intends to find out and things will never be the same again.
The illustrations are classic children’s picture book stuff and possess a very child like innocence. There is also a striking use of bold colours and shapes.
It’s hard not to have the Tiger who came to Tea in your head when you read this, but there’s no drinking daddy’s beer here. Fans of that book will enjoy this too though and kids will enjoy looking out for the tiger.
Just to note, this book was the winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2017, Illustrated Books Category. Great choice!
